2020 - the year that was and what will be?

Updated: May 5, 2023

1 January 2021

Happy New Year and a big welcome to my very first blog on a brand new Full Frame Coach website!

This time of year always brings a blend of reflection and looking ahead. I love spending time thinking about what have I learnt and what I want to get from the coming year – what do I want to focus on? What brings me joy? What will I learn? I also like to choose a word/short phrase to encompass those goals and in 2021 it is “soul food”.

I don’t want to say too much about 2020 and the major events that have happened over the last twelve months – we all know it’s been hard. It’s been even harder for many families whose loved ones have died, for those who were seriously ill, and those living with the consequences of the virus (physically, emotionally, economically and socially). It’s also been hard for those supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

What I will say about 2020 is that it has been a catalyst for significant change in how we live our lives and how we view the world. So how will you take that forward into 2021? What will you keep and what will you change? What will you introduce?

Full Frame Coach has been on the ubiquitous journey this year – but not how you might think! I started my side hustle back in 2017 and it has bumped along the bottom of the ocean floor since then. This year however, I summoned some courage and attended the inaugural AWEsome Women's Retreat. It lit the fire in my belly to be an entrepreneur. With a much clearer vision and some tools to help me, I am delighted to launch my own website (built by moi over the last week of December)! This marks the start of a new phase and I’m really excited that you’re here with me.

Take a look at www.fullframecoach.com – empowering women who feel marginalised to meet their leadership potential, through coaching, mentoring and facilitation.

What are your goals, resolutions, ambitions, for 2021? How will you know that you’re on the right track over the coming seasons? What would you like to be in place by this time next year? Most importantly, who can help you?

For 2021, I have crafted my goals into a Vision Board and these are centred on:

  • The growth of Full Frame Coach

  • Walking 1000 miles

  • Singing in my local Tuneless Choir (it will remain online for a while)

  • Improving my A Level/HSC French

  • Completing a new reading challenge

  • Studying Tibetan Buddhism psychology, philosophy and practice.

I’m a big fan of accountability groups/pairs/buddies. With my goals, it’s never one person who helps me. This year for Full Frame Coach I have my AWEsome women; for walking it’s the One Million Women Walking facebook community; the choir is obvious; and for French it’s a neighbour who has a similar goal for Spanish this year. Joining me on the reading challenge is a good friend with a similar passion for reading (and travelling and photography and walking and French!); and last but by no means least, I am part of a couple of study groups with the Jamyang Buddhist Centre in London.

Finally, I want to thank every single one of you who has done things for someone else this year motivated by kindness and compassion – your family, friends, a neighbour, a colleague, a stranger. We’ve needed kindness and compassion more than ever and I sincerely hope we hang on to this in 2021 and in the years to come.

Love Liz x
